Powder formats (protein blends, greens powders, pre-workouts, meal replacements, electrolyte mixes and functional food powders) are one of the fastest ways to bring a nutrition brand to market in Australia, but they’re also one of the easiest categories to get wrong on flavour masking, solubility and shelf stability. YGF works with independently vetted Australian and international powder manufacturers who specialise in wet and dry blending, micro-dosing of actives, and flavour systems that actually dissolve and taste right, not just look right on a spec sheet.
We manage formulation, ingredient sourcing, sample rounds, packaging (stand-up pouches, tubs, sachets) and FSANZ compliance so you’re not coordinating a lab, a co-packer and a label printer separately. Most powder projects start from 500 units and move from first formulation brief to production-ready sample in 4 months.

Product Development Phase
You work with our NPD team to develop a bespoke formulation aligned to your product goals and target market. We manage formulation, ingredient sourcing, specifications, regulatory considerations and work with you to select the best manufacturer for your product at this stage.

Manufacturing Trial Phase
We coordinate scale-up and commercial trials with the selected manufacturer to validate formulation, processing, packaging, and quality before full production. Client approval is required before proceeding.
Production Phase
Once approved, production is executed by the certified manufacturer. We oversee timelines, quality checks, and logistics through to delivery to your warehouse or distribution partner.
From formulation to scale-up. our experts handle every step of your food, beverage, or supplement journey.

Custom Product Development
We formulate your food, beverage, or supplement product from scratch — powders, bars, drinks, spreads, or chews — based on your brief, goals, and target market.
Regulatory & Compliance Support
Navigate FDA and FSMA requirements with confidence. We provide formulation guidance, label compliance review, cGMP-aligned documentation support, and assistance with structure/function claim compliance.
Ingredient & Packaging Sourcing
We source the right ingredients and packaging for your product — prioritising cost, quality, functionality, and scalability using our trusted supplier network.
Brand & Marketing Support
We help you build a brand that lasts — with optional marketing strategy sessions, coaching, and guidance on how to launch, grow, and scale.
Ongoing Business
Support
You’re not alone. We offer mentorship and guidance beyond launch — from product extensions to troubleshooting manufacturing challenges.

Cost and minimum order both depend on your ingredients, active dosing, packaging format and order volume, so we don’t publish a flat price or figure. Our powder projects typically start from 500 units for a single-flavour SKU. Simpler blends built on stock bases with standard actives (protein, greens, electrolytes) can usually launch at the lower end of that range, while blends requiring custom active dosing, novel ingredients, or multiple flavour variants at once will sit higher, since the manufacturer needs to account for line setup and ingredient minimums across each SKU. We provide a written quote after reviewing your formulation brief, broken down by ingredients, packaging and manufacturing, so you can see exactly what you’re paying for and model your retail margin before committing.
Yes. Powder formats are one of the most flexible categories for active-ingredient dosing because there’s no encapsulation or gummy-matrix constraint to work around, actives can generally be blended at a wider range of inclusion rates than in capsules or gummies. We work with you (and, where needed, a formulation chemist) to determine correct dosing per serve, check ingredient permissibility for the Australian market, and run trial batches to confirm the active blends evenly and doesn’t separate or clump in the final packaged product. If you already have a formulation you’re bringing from a previous manufacturer, we can also assess whether it can be replicated as-is or needs adjustment for local ingredient sourcing.
Flavour masking is one of the most common reasons powder launches fail at the sampling stage, so yes, this is core to what we manage. Ingredients like magnesium, plant proteins, greens blends and certain vitamins and minerals carry natural bitterness or chalkiness that needs to be engineered around with flavour systems, sweeteners and sometimes texture modifiers, rather than just added on top. We run iterative sample rounds specifically for taste and mouthfeel before locking a formula, so you’re tasting and approving real batches, not just reviewing a spec sheet, before any commitment to a full production run.
Yes, and we’d strongly discourage skipping this step. You’ll receive physical samples during the formulation process to approve taste, texture and dissolvability before we move to a production-scale batch. If a sample doesn’t meet your expectations, we take that feedback back to the manufacturer for adjustment and produce a revised sample. We don’t move to a full production run without your written sign-off on a sample you’re genuinely happy with, and multiple sample rounds are a normal, built-in part of the process, not a sign that something has gone wrong.
We can source packaging across stand-up pouches, tubs/jars, single-serve sachets and stick packs, with the right format usually coming down to your positioning and usage occasion rather than cost alone. Pouches and tubs suit at-home, multi-serve use and are generally the most cost-efficient per gram; sachets and stick packs suit on-the-go or trial-size positioning but carry a higher per-unit packaging cost. FSANZ-compliant labelling, covering nutrition panels, ingredient listing, allergen declarations and any required warning statements, is built into our process as standard, not billed separately.
This is confirmed in writing as part of your manufacturing agreement before development begins. In most cases, a formulation developed specifically for your brand is proprietary to you, meaning the manufacturer can’t sell the same recipe to another brand. We’ll make sure ownership and exclusivity terms are clearly set out, so there’s no ambiguity about whether your formula could end up on a competitor’s shelf.
Expect 4-8 months from an initial formulation brief to an approved production-ready sample, varying based on how many flavour or SKU variants you’re developing and whether you’re using stock ingredients or custom active sourcing. To begin, start with a discovery call where we discuss your product concept, target market, budget and timeline, no obligation at the enquiry stage. From there we’ll scope a formulation brief and match you with a suitable manufacturing partner from our vetted network.
Yes, though export requirements vary significantly by destination market, both in terms of ingredient permissibility and labelling. If you’re planning to sell into markets beyond Australia, tell us this at the start of your formulation brief, since some ingredients permitted here aren’t permitted elsewhere, and vice versa. We’ll help you understand which markets your current formulation is compatible with.
Whether you’re starting from scratch or scaling up, book a call with our team to map out your manufacturing journey—from concept to shelf.
